x1-factor: when x1 trumps a1 anytime

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

xperia!seriously, the person that said that you can’t buy happiness haven’t had the time to toy with the new x1. yep, finally it’s available in manila for a cool php42,500.00, cash or card (straight payment or 6 months deferred). there’s no difference in price if you opt for the cash so i suggest you get the 6 months deferred deal. it’s running on the uber slick windows mobile 6.1 operating system; 101% guaranteed to work with your vista or xp. for those who can’t differentiate operating systems from a tea cup (i’m having tea, sue me!), it’s the ‘thing’ that makes devices (including your washing machine) work. it talks to the chips, speaker, screen, key pads and what not and makes sure that they are doing what they’re supposed to be doing. the touch screen display is not only responsive but boasts of a clear and crisp resolution that will give the iphone a run for its money. it has a full qwerty keyboard that comes in handy when replying to long and annoying emails from work. email? work? uhuh! it has a built in microsoft outlook mobile that syncs your contacts, email, calendar and tasks straight from your exchange server. no need for those screwed up usb cables and software installations. another neat feature of the phone is that it comes with onenote. if you’re a organize-freak like me, you’ll learn to appreciate onenote, and you can sync your desktop onenote to your  phone and sync it back of course. i can’t stop gushing over this wonderful phone. if not all those features i’ve told you, get the x1 because of the facebook panel. you see after you login, it displays your profile picture and when you click on it, you can update your status! and not only that, it displays your friends as well and when you click on them, it displays their status. genius!

the new gucci man: s/s 2009

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

frida’s collection for gucci is a stamp, her own brand. she has definitely stepped out of tom ford’s shadow. i love tom ford, i love his elegance and glamour mixed with punk to create a style that is definitely his. although miles from your usual gucci man, frida giannini have created an image of happiness; colors everywhere like a child with a box of crayons. over all, the new gucci guy is courageous, relaxed, if not, flamboyant but still conscious and stylish!

gucci02 from the lot i like this the best. the tailoring is still immaculate, undeniably gucci; though most fashion houses like lanvin and hermes have this voluminous/pajama look for spring, the gucci man is still stylish, lean and cut throat fierce. he is not shy with the play of colors for this season with colored and printed jeans, jackets and suits. the lush of tropical flora and fauna all over the gucci man. at first it may seem tacky and uninspiring but as we all know, it’s all about the execution. even the bags and shoes have a splash of color and a playful detail print of hibiscus (that’s gumamela for you pinoys), parrots and other exotic birds and flower. and speaking of accessories, for me, this collection’s strength is on the accessory. the aquamarine crocodile tote is perfection so is the electric blue bag satchel.

d-squared: s/s 2009

Friday, July 11th, 2008

dsquared01 one of the reasons i am into designer jeans is because of one brand, d squared. the twin tandem of dean and dan caten lured me into their brand when madonna wore a pair in her video for american pie. it was super low-sexy, bordering to scandalous. for 2009 spring, they’ve  done it again. very clean, sexy lines, impeccable tailoring and gorgeous fit. the 3 piece denim suit never looked so good! they paid tribute to the birth of hip-hop extending vogue italia‘s homage to diversity with an all colored model. virtually track suits, polo shirts, gym shorts, while still keeping in mind the warm spring and humid summer with  bright colors, fresh look and even the comeback of argyle socks. although there are few accessories, featured bags are extremely stylish and wearable and their footwear are playful and very street. the collection is cohesive, designer-ghetto, with a throw back to the blues and jazz era. this collection is a breathe of fresh air for the twins, a breakaway from their fierce, highly styled, haute couture look.
