room undone
yaya is on leave, she has to go to her family in the south and attend to her son. i need my yaya to tidy up for me, say i can’t live without yaya. so for a month, my apartment is in shambles, specially my room. yaya lily helps out but no one is allowed to go in my room except yaya.
this is my bed. argh! this is how it would look like coming home by 1.00am, until i leave for the office or the gym. no fixing up the bed, tidying up or picking up, unless i need it for the office then i’ll put it in my bag of the day. see the outline of the bed? i sleep in the top-right thus that nook is ‘clean’.
this is my closet in my room, my main closet. i have 2 more in the other room. this closet of course has my necessities, like under garments, shorts, shirts and bags. however i also use it to hang my used jeans. you see, raw denims shouldn’t be washed regularly. i wash mine line once in 2 months, but i only use it like once or twice in that time. yes, i have way too many jeans so stop counting, there’s more in closet #2. closet #3 are for special occasions like suits, barongs, dress shirts.
my computer table. where the magic happens. hahaha. this is my bread and butter factory. i spent a good 8 hours a day here, 15 if i am working at home. scattered are my necessities for work, my mobile phone docked and synching, 1.5L of tropicana twister in apple, my noise canceling headset, 1 terabyte backup drive and a kick ass sound system. the tv is on the right side but i rarely use it and it’s stuck to channel 41, nat geo. it has the processing power of intel centrino core duo 2.0ghz with 2gb of memory and 12 cell battery for some serious computing. windows vista sucks but works fine. might upgrade to mac pro this year.
this is a corner in my room, by the floor. precious cd collection and full collection of harry potter, will and grace seasons 4, 5 and 6 on top. black guccisima lying there, haven’t been using it for a while since i’m into eco-bags now. you know, those eco friendly bags ala-anya hindmarch i’m not a plastic bag. ok, still designer but hey! it’s eco-friendly and that’s the point. i have a hollister and american eagle tote that i use for everyday. though i need to use dear old guccisima again.
this is a fixture in my wall. it houses my dvd collection and some precious, precious cds and books. priced among my dvds is the complete will and grace dvds and 6 feet under both are not available yet in manila. all of these i bought during my trips to the u.s. and australia. amazon is a constant and gratifying companion, never lets you down. it also has some of my collectible action figures, lord of the rings and war craft 3. little touches of trinkets that i collected along when traveling.
so there, a snap shot of how my rooms looks like post yaya leaving. i hope yaya comes back soon. my rooms needs serious tidying up.

being a geek and admin powers have its draw backs. warning: geek ranting here.
i was tweaking this blog just this morning trying to make it support the open id framework. geek overload, open id is an up and coming open technology that will allow you to have a consolidated account, so it’s less username and password. anyhoo, i was successful in configuring my blog for open id. i was now trying to support open id in comments and hook it up with gravatar so that all of you who have gravatars and open id will be more than welcome in my blog.the plugin requires that the existing comments table in the database (table where the comments are being saved) have to be altered to support a new column called openid_login. however that activation script wasn’t able to create the new field, or i think it created the wrong one. so the geeky me connected to the backend and altered the table, tested it and kablam! didn’t work. missing files in the plugin. being freakishly obsessed with performance and table normalization, i deleted the new columns i created. i was using the PhpMyAdmin in doing this which i am relatively new at. very familiar with MySQL admin and query browser but not this one, but i decided to use this since it has icons and pretty colors. so i selected the new column and click the X icon, which asked me if i want to delete it.
i said yes.
tweak, tweak and then i saw another X icon in one of the tabs. i figured that it’s like a commit, similar to any SQL browser. fyi, sql browsers will alter, update, drop, create and manipulate databases without commiting. you have to explicitly commit your changes. so i carelessly press the X and disregarded the message.
now all my comments are kaput. all gone, a lifetime of comments.

rotten fish and black toblerone
life is depressing and this christmas season thingy makes it even more depressing.
no amount of kit-kat or black toblerone could fix this one. i’m in a terrible runt. so i am, and it’s perfect. gawd, if only i believe that… when life throws you lemons, make lemonade, what can i make out of rotten fish and cigarette butts? it will pass i know, but i get reminded when will resigned from his job after realizing how unfulfilled his life is. all i need is a fresh perspective. perspective, are you listening?
to quote grace adler - i think maybe this is one of those weird problems that spending money can’t fix. i so hope she’s wrong…
