songs have always been my emotional outlet. from the peaks and valleys of my emotional roller coaster, there’s a song ready to be played as if it was written to be the soundtrack of my life. i take comfort in that, that whatever is happening, a song can eloquently convey whatever i can’t verbalize at the moment.

to my surprise, i have grown a liking to one of the songs from the new album doll domination. and when i say like, i don’t mean dance-like (e.g. magic where i see myself in a contemporary duet with a girl doing all these technical routines). what i mean like is lifestory-like. kantahanlly they’ve grown, but of course they still need the customary shake your ass tracks for commercial viability. sharing a few lines, hope you find this song as meaningful as it does to me.

Take a look in the mirror, you’re beautiful
Take a moment to love the one you are
Learn to accept yourself, coz it’s the truth
Can’t love nobody else, until you love you

very rarely do one listens to an album from the first track to its last. honestly, even the most emo-esque rob thomas have that so so tracks, otherwise known as filler tracks in his solo debut album (something to be). though i love the unreleased last track, now comes the night. i fondly remember those early years that artists releases 6-8 tracks from their album. however times have change, with the exception of the debut album of pussycat dolls (PCD) , let’s pray for the old times. in hindsight, i  now appreciate itunes‘ 99cent song.

i’ve been a fan of jason mraz from the day i got myself a copy of his waiting for my rocket to come. from the new releases section of tower records, i picked his cd having been intrigued by the album title. since i promised myself 2 new cds a month and to explore new sounds,  i bought a copy. to date, this is the only cd i listen end to end religiously. i like how the tracks are arranged, progressing and slowing down like the emotional wreck that i am.  immediately i got a liking to the song no stopping us. lately i’ve listening  heavily to you and i both listed as my most listened track in itunes. i think it’s my need to connect to other people and share my life. beside from those 2 songs, the entire album simply hugs your ear and give your that warm fuzzy feeling, i enjoy his songs tremendously.

i just bought his 3rd album, we sing, we dance, we steal things. yes, it’s really good as it claims to be. the carrier single i’m yours have this island feel from the ukulele accompaniment and from the way he sang it. it’s as if he was whispering to my ear, telling me to surrender to love. i’m yours! i give up! he is one of those underrated artists. he deserve more hurrah compared to britney spears but in today’s fanaticism, sensationalism and false glamour, we put more premium to the person rather than the talent. i really hope that he does well so i can listen to more beautiful music and cool lyrics.

the new ipod nano

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

just when you’re about to to hold your breath for the new ipod release, you get this.

i think apple is losing its touch. design do recycle but not at least 20 years before doing so. the nano before (3rd generation) was amazing, aesthetics was a a step above, even the latest shuffle. this is same old nano (2nd generation) with a bigger screen. nothing spectacular. but of course knowing steve jobs, he’ll be able to sell this, he can sell anything!

life ain’t bad

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you’re chewing on life’s gristle
Don’t grumble, give a whistle
And this’ll help things turn out for the best…

And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life…

If life seems jolly rotten
There’s something you’ve forgotten
And that’s to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you’re feeling in the dumps
Don’t be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle – that’s the thing.

And…always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the light side of life…

For life is quite absurd
And death’s the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin – give the audience a grin
Enjoy it – it’s your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life’s a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life’s a laugh and death’s a joke, it’s true.
You’ll see it’s all a show
Keep ‘em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the right side of life…
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life…
Always look on the bright side of life…
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life…
(I mean – what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing – you’re going back to nothing.
What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the right side of life…

according to kate monster… [download here]

I’m kinda pretty
And pretty damn smart.
I like romantic things
Like music and art.
And as you know
I have a gigantic heart
So why don’t I have
A boyfriend?
Fuck!
It sucks to be me!

It sucks to be me.
It sucks to be Brian…
And Kate…
To not have a job!
To not have a date!
