so i lost another xperia yet again. just over 2 months and i lost this phone that i love so much. i have to say that it’s my fault. i trust on people too much. you see, after my workout last saturday, i felt woozy so i decided to sleep at the spa. i have good rapport with the spa staff (at least the old ones) that i feel very comfortable. so i slept at the receiving area. goose feather pillows and thai silk made me sleep for 40 minutes. was quite sure that i have my phone with me because i was checking my calendar for a spa appointment. when i woke up, padded the day bed for my stuff and all i got was my locker key. i thought that my phone was in my locker but alas, it wasn’t there. after a couple of minutes i realized that i was using my phone at the spa, texting people.

i have a pretty good idea who took it, and she is one of the new attendants. stupid girl used my sim card. i tried calling my number again after a while and it rang. her flatmates answered and gave all the information i needed… now i need to confront the bitch. honestly, i’m not really optimistic about getting back my phone. but this bitch will pay..

been unlucky with the xperia, loosing 2 in matter of 6 months, so i got me  different phone. almost the same  thing, same feature. email is a big deal for me as i work while commuting, at the gym, at the cinema, pretty much anywhere. so i bought this…

the nokia n97. hopefully this one would last me at least a year. but i got the black one. i still think that xperia is way prettier. here’s to changing my luck with phones.

x1-factor: when x1 trumps a1 anytime

xperia!seriously, the person that said that you can’t buy happiness haven’t had the time to toy with the new x1. yep, finally it’s available in manila for a cool php42,500.00, cash or card (straight payment or 6 months deferred). there’s no difference in price if you opt for the cash so i suggest you get the 6 months deferred deal. it’s running on the uber slick windows mobile 6.1 operating system; 101% guaranteed to work with your vista or xp. for those who can’t differentiate operating systems from a tea cup (i’m having tea, sue me!), it’s the ‘thing’ that makes devices (including your washing machine) work. it talks to the chips, speaker, screen, key pads and what not and makes sure that they are doing what they’re supposed to be doing. the touch screen display is not only responsive but boasts of a clear and crisp resolution that will give the iphone a run for its money. it has a full qwerty keyboard that comes in handy when replying to long and annoying emails from work. email? work? uhuh! it has a built in microsoft outlook mobile that syncs your contacts, email, calendar and tasks straight from your exchange server. no need for those screwed up usb cables and software installations. another neat feature of the phone is that it comes with onenote. if you’re a organize-freak like me, you’ll learn to appreciate onenote, and you can sync your desktop onenote to your  phone and sync it back of course. i can’t stop gushing over this wonderful phone. if not all those features i’ve told you, get the x1 because of the facebook panel. you see after you login, it displays your profile picture and when you click on it, you can update your status! and not only that, it displays your friends as well and when you click on them, it displays their status. genius!

facebook panel on the x1i

happiness can be bought. buy yours now. hehe. hello endless nights of configuration.

the new ipod nano

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

just when you’re about to to hold your breath for the new ipod release, you get this.

i think apple is losing its touch. design do recycle but not at least 20 years before doing so. the nano before (3rd generation) was amazing, aesthetics was a a step above, even the latest shuffle. this is same old nano (2nd generation) with a bigger screen. nothing spectacular. but of course knowing steve jobs, he’ll be able to sell this, he can sell anything!

last weekend was the first of the bi-annual microwarehouse sale. i bought myself a 160gb ipod classic in matte black with a belkin crystal case in baby pink cover. i know, why baby pink, well it looks good with my aquamarine croc envelope clutch and i gave my old ipod to my niece who celebrated her 18th birthday. for the past weekends, i was cooped up in my apartment ripping cds and dvds. i’m almost done with the cds with the exception of the classical; i wouldn’t be listening to bach on the road nor to paganini.

the dvds are a different story. i installed this 1 click dvd to ipod software that made ripping dvds a breeze. it rips tv series dvds per episode, imagine that! however, i manually labeled the series name, season, episode number and name manually which is a drag. i was able to rip 6 seasons of will and grace, 3 seasons of sex and the city, seasons 1 & 2 of house, seasons 1 & 2 of avatar the last airbender, and before sunrise and before sunset. it was a ripping frenzy for the last 2 weekends. i know it’s not how i’m supposed to spend my weekends but i’m practicing celibacy and frugal living. not to mention that my ocd is kicking, trying to rip everything i can hold on to and dump it in my mega ipod. i still have to go through my classic movie collections-audrey hepburn, george peppard, rock hudson, doris day; i’m such a nut with the classics, and showtunes of course. my playlist is still not doing any better specially now that i dump more stuff into my itunes. another weekend just to cleanup a whole lotta digital mess.

speaking of digital stuff, are you aware of your digital footprint? digital footprint is defined as ‘trail, traces or footprints that people leave online’. this of course in a utopian world means nada, however we are living in an era far from ideal. netizens have a high digital footprint visibility but this is not exclusive to the web community. every piece of technology that you use is recording your every move. it may come off as the net-ish but it’s true. every sms you sent has been logged, recorded, audited and archived until as prescribed by ntc. even your bank transactions, either by phone, atm, over the counter or online is being logged for purposes that you may or may not like. these footprints you leave all trails back to you. imagine that people can be tracked down, even spell out your day, where you had lunch and what, what you bought last midnight sale, even the color. your internet activities, what site you’ve visited, how often, from where, your email and other social networking accounts, the ecard you created for your friends birthday, even the font, color and size. a world where privacy is just an illusion and your entire life, just a couple of mouse click away. leaving these marks is not as bad as it sound, in fact it may save your ass during criminal investigations as it would give you your iron clad alibi, provided you are innocent of course. there is no such thing as free service, not even google and gmail. their free services comes at the steepest price, your most intimate and private information. to discover your own digital footprint, you may go to this site.
