the problem with men’s clutch…

Friday, June 20th, 2008

i have to say that i am not a big fan of men’s clutch. in fact i hated seeing men with clutch specially those who uses shoe bags as clutch. yes there are people who uses shoe bags other that its intended use, why? i don’t know. there’s this one time when i was ordering at coffee bean in greenbelt 3, a guy in front of me sporting a scarf and sunglasses late at night with matching toiletry bag. first, there’s too many trends here that is so not right. you all know how i feel with people wearing scarf in the dead heat of summerwhen there’s no snow. secondly, the sunglasses inside a covered building, in the middle of the night. third, the toiletry bag? what’s up with that? is there a shaving cream and lotion in there somewhere? even if it’s gucci (which is not), a toiletry bag is a toiletry bag; use it as it’s intended to be used. i find it quite irritating, although i have to admit that it’s a step forward for the filipino men who’s idea of bag is a back pack.

men's clutch and those available men’s clutches are boring for my taste. the shape is unflattering bordering to blah and it’s too bulky to carry it under my arm. the color is always either black or brown and not the nice hue of brown. it’s dull and doesn’t add anything. accessories, bags included, should compliment what you are wearing and your personality. it is an extension of yourself, your clothes, your style. this actually takes back against style and will set you back years even decades fashion wise. this style reminds me of old men in cheap cologne and pomade.

thankfully designers have found a better alternative to your usual clutch. i give you…

patent saturday night

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

usual saturday; after my workout at trinoma, tere and i headed to north edsa to have our spa. had our body scrub and whole body massages. it has been my saturday destressing ritual, to have someone rub glorified crushed coffee beans all over my body, followed by an invigorating, body breaking deep tissue massage. hard massage to soothe my aching muscles from that really heavy p.t. sessions with trainor. on our way out, i met dats who’s just got to the gym for his workout. we shook hands as i am poofed from my workout and massage. to perk me up, i went down stairs and saw a gorgeous red patent leather boots. patent red boots i couldn’t resist. the smell of leather, the shiny, glossy finish of patent leather, the heaviness of the non-slip grip sole. must-keep-plastic-in-wristlet. too late; my credit card swiping hand got hold of visa before my goody-goody hand secured it. hay, a heavy shopping bag in tow… i have a new obsession with dr marten boots. i recently purchased a cherry red dr marten 2 weeks ago. but the sight of patent leather really convinced me to buy it. pick your choice.

cherry red? patent red?

met with richard and jake after and headed to morato for dinner. amici opened a branch along morato. it’s the same amici in don bosco makati. they still have their signature gelato and pasta dishes. we ordered pesto linguine, chicken arabiata and quatro formaggio pizza. though the servings were good for two, we were able to finish it, all of it. talk about hunger. blame the workout, ever since i got back in the gym, my appetite doubled. strolling along morato after dinner, we were trying to figure out were to have dessert. we ended having coffee at starbucks over a warm, moist chocolate cake bought at fleur de lys. the ganache chocolate cake with strawberry really hit the spot, complementing the sour, bitter taste of african coffee. really, it was the longest cup of coffee conversation we ever had. it was fun though, coffee conversations for me is the best way you can know a person. and even though you’ve known them for quite a while, you’ll still discover little things that makes them even more amazing. richard was craving for mediterranean so we drove all over the metro to find prince kebab for a stuffing chyma, shawarma and lamb kebab. so stuffed. so full…

carbon leather tote bag viktor denim tote bag doc marten's wine military boots

the viktor denim bag (in the middle) was a gift from viktor jeans. it’s quite large and very handy for those days you just need to put everything in and forget about it, like laundry day. i use it for the gym during weekdays where i bring a ton of stuff to the gym. i go to the gym before going to the office during work days so i need to carry my work clothes and gym clothes and other stuff to the gym quite a handy bag if you ask me. i bought the black tote bag at carbon after passing at the store. it has been a while since i last visited their store at greenbelt 3 and that brand has always been a source of quality and stylish leather goods. i have been eyeing this bag for a while now but i find the price tag quite expensive for a local brand. but fuck it, why go cheap on a local brand? if i can drop us$1,200.00 for a canvass vuitton, why not on a good leather tote? it maybe a local brand but it’s as good as the luxury brand and it’s way cheaper, only us$350.00.

the dr. marten wine red boots is a different story. listen up people, after starting the trend of skinny jeans, i can confidently say that the new fashion is skinny jeans and boots. you heard me, military boots with skinny jeans will rule not only the runway but the streets for those style savvy people. although skinny jeans is slowly becoming a thing of the past, it will always be in style as long as you have the legs and attitude to wear it. think punk rock, think london chic; big boots will be the new trend, trust me on this ;-) . so grab a boot at your nearest shoe shop, this will be huge i tell you. attitude, attitude, attitude.

lent spring cleaning

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

as you now know, this house have acquired a new name. it’s lent in manila and as a tradition, i’m spending lent together with house and the girls. i would be doing a major spring cleaning as well, this house. you see, i am all alone in our house, as in all alone. mom’s out visiting my aunts in some far off piece of rock located across the pacific and yaya is visiting her family in some province. so me is all alone in our abode, and i don’t intend to clean my room, pick up my clothes, cook, nor wash my soiled flat and silverwares come monday-the time that yaya is back from her vacation. thank god for microwaveable food, lucky me pancit canton and other insta-food. this is the only season that is all about me. christmas is all about family and so is my new year. halloween is partying. lent, just me. my siblings and their family is somewhere else, vacationing i think, distant from the slab of rock i am standing. and this year that mom decided to be with her sisters, i am all alone and scott free to do whatever i want. as if i would something crazy like throw a party. hello! it’s lent! everyone is in puerto galera and boracay doing whatever. but being by myself is such a liberating idea. i love it!

as for my spring cleaning, i’m playing around with different themes for the best layout. i am major in customization, thus the banner should be customizable. though i haven’t pick out yet what picture to use for my banner. but it’s definitely from one of my trips. my other laptop with the adobe photoshop would be very handy now. i want my new home to have an easy and relaxed aura. or maybe not; i might do the bling-bling stuff. anyway, it would be different i tell you. i’m very happy with wordpress.com as my host, aside form being free ;-) , they have an easy to use control panel that administration of my site is a breeze. i’m playing around with wordpress though since most my layout ideas can’t be supported in wordpress.com. i still have 15gb file hosting and domain forwarding with wordpress.com.

as for my domain name friereich.com.ph, a lot have asked why .ph? warning: the succeeding text is a little geeky, nausea nose bleed is a common side effect. a gtld (global top level domain) ends with a .com, .net, .org-no country code extension. this is ideal for those who wants global presence as well as copyright and trademark consideration. a cctld (country code top level domain) is more geo-specific on the domain space (.ph, .jp, .au, etc…) although still accessible through the web anywhere. from the search engine optimization perspective, engines gives high ranking to cctld domains: translated, if you are to a search on stuff that my site has and your ip address is in the philippines, google, yahoo and other search engines will give higher ranking in the content my site has. meaning? the philippines will get to read my rants and runt a whole lotta more. aside from that, cctld and gtld are the same. well… and cctld is more expensive than gtld by us$30/year. so you ask, with the extra $30 what do i get? i answer, pride. that my humble home is conceived and created from a country in the pacific with 7,107 glorious islands during the best time of the day.

watch out for sleak looking house… ;-)

p.s. to my dear friends and extended friends (blog friends), since i have a bazillion file hosting space which include audio and video file upload, i can create an account for you in my wordpress.com domain so you can upload ‘em files and reference it to your site. let’s flood the world with our media crap. just shout darna! ok?
